HOW THIS STARTED.

The 2000's clothing scene was just starting to come back, and there wasn't really anywhere to actually buy into it. You could get lucky at a thrift store, or pay some Depop reseller three times what they paid for a shirt they found in a five-dollar bin.

I felt that exact thing at 18, senior year of high school. So instead of waiting for someone else to fix it, I built a Shopify store and set up a screen printing kit on the floor of my girlfriend's house, a kit I barely knew how to use. That's where Amescense started.

I didn't know what I was doing. My first prints were shit, uneven ink, blown registration, drops that flopped because the shirts genuinely weren't good enough yet.

I kept going anyway. I was working at a Little Caesars at the time, and every paycheck went straight back into ink, blanks, and better equipment. My girlfriend was on that floor with me most nights, helping me pull prints. Amescense thrived not because I had a team, but because I had one person who thought it was worth the mess.

That's still how it works. Every piece is hand-printed in small batches. Not because it sounds exclusive, but because that's what it actually looks like when a couple of people are making something instead of a factory line.

DIY or die. That was true on the floor of that house, and it still is.
